The short version

As an Amazon Associate, Bolt & Vault earns from qualifying purchases. When you click a buy button on this site and then buy something on Amazon, Amazon may pay us a commission. You pay the same price you would have paid anyway. Every page with buy buttons carries a #ad notice near the top and under each button, so you never have to hunt for this.

How our links work

Buy buttons point to an address on our own site that starts with /go/. That short redirect sends you on to the retailer and adds our Amazon Associates tracking tag, so the retailer knows the visit came from us. We use it so a link can be updated in one place if a listing changes. The redirect only ever sends you to the retailer named on the button; it can't send you anywhere else. Affiliate links are marked rel="sponsored" for search engines.

Right now most buttons open an Amazon search for the exact model number rather than a single product page. That's deliberate: it shows you every current seller and never sends you to a dead page when a listing changes. Check that the model number on the listing matches the one on our page before you buy.

Some safes we cover are sold only through the maker's dealers, not on Amazon. Those buttons are marked as plain links to the maker's site, and we earn nothing from them.

Why buttons say “Check price on Amazon”

Prices are set by the retailer and change often. We only show a price when it comes from a live retailer feed with a date attached; otherwise the button simply says “Check price on Amazon”. We never type a price from memory or an old screenshot, and we never invent discounts or “deal” urgency.

What commission doesn't change

Rankings are set by our published rubric, not by how much a retailer or brand pays. We don't accept paid placements or free products for coverage. When a simpler, cheaper option is the right answer (a lock box instead of a gun safe for a single handgun that just needs to be out of a child's reach, for instance) we say so, even if it earns us less. Other retailers

At launch, Amazon is the only retailer we have an affiliate relationship with. If we add a safe maker or retailer program later, we'll update this page and mark those links the same way. Links to UL, government sources, research and maker spec pages in our articles are ordinary reference links and earn us nothing.
